If my kitchen is 100 degrees will that keep my refrigerator from keeping food cold and freezing?

Your frig is really going to have to work to keep food cold but it should even if your kitchen is 100 degrees. If it wont keep your milk cold then there is something wrong with the frig. Get a thermometer, freezer should run from 0 degrees to 10 degrees, fresh food or lower compartment should run between 36 to 40 degrees, thats an average rule of thumb give or take a degree or two.

Refrigerator can work even if kept in sunlight. Haven't you seen ice cream vendors on roads. How do they keep the ice cream frozen ? After all its working on the same principles.

You can improved the cooling either by changing the location of the fridge, near to a window, this will reduce the temperature of the condenser coil in the fridge/ Secondly you can install a small ceiling fan or a pedestal fan near the fridge it will keep the air circulation & decrease the temperature.

Moreover, use thin plastic bottles to store milk or water. Remove unwanted things from the fridge, the one you use rarely. The more the storage load, the more time it will take to cool.

Sandy is right! The refrigerator should work even with the temp at 100 degrees. Your landlord is a flake. Good Luck

It sounds like your landlord is trying to pull the wool over your eyes. 100 degress ambient tempreture just makes your fridge work harder to keep things cool, obviously the fridge in your apartment is incapable of working that hard. So what you have on your hands is a failing appliance and a landlord who knows it, but probably does not feel like putting up the money for a new one.
