Because whites already have all the power. Reaffirming that is reaffirming the subjugation of other races. Black power is reaffirming the aspirations of blacks to be equal. Or even to someday get to subjugate others, but since that's not an actuality it isn't considered racist.

Neither statement should be used as they push segregation more. It should be un-necessary for blacks and whites to need such and the sooner these ideas die away, the happier people will be. What about a joint statement called 'People Power" that treats everyone equally and fairly. There are many organizations to try to insure equality but they tend to make polemics rather than solve the problems. The world is very small, and I am in a country far from you but by the shrinking globe, I have no problem in communicating with you...let's begin to communicate with our next door neighbors and become friends.

Yeah, "Black Power" is a little racist, but not like the KKK(white power). The black power movement wasn't violent to the point of killing thousands of white people just because they aren't the same color, like the KKK. I think Black Power is more about blacks having rights, not total power.

I only deal with the reality of one on one, and I meet you in an atmosphere of hope, positivity, optimism, and a quest to find common interests in the tranquility of my peaceful and prosperous society.

If you come to me with an attitude of negativity, it will be a poor showing for you, and I will have felt cheated of the power of a great friendship, but, I will understand, as you are too sick to have any friends, so you hang with your 'buddies' who are all as sick as you.

Any of the protestations of 'power' for any group that tries to acquire power, is an affront to the equality we all enjoy.

So, black, French Canadian, Cajun, white, chicano, latino, carib, surfer, owner, worker, or gay, no matter the category, you limit your horizons when you profess to be a limited thing.

I am a human, and I possess the greatness of Freedom! I travel freely, and I am a part of the prosperity that gifts your children with success. Why would you want to limit the prosperity of your children?

I hope you see the insanity of all that '---- Power' thing! It isn't power, it is control, and it doesn't expand your horizons, it limits them.

While you are protesting your '----power', 19 other ethnic or gender, or language specific groups are moving onto your territory, opening markets, engaging in free commerce, and acquiring great prosperity.

Because most white people wont understand what "white power" means anyways because whites arnt always worried about race like u will find with asians, blacks, and latinos...who always use their race to cover their own shortcommings and to blame others for their failures

because whites have/had most of the power while "minorities" don't/didn't? "white power" = oppression "black power" = overcoming oppression

lucky j.. what are your sources? because i just googled that and got NOTHING.

frank is right.. and "people power" is cute. :P way better than this negative question.
