Making ends meet for most is becuase the cost of food, transportation, clothing, and other living needs are far more higher than businesses andd companies are paying out to thier employees making it tough to make ends meet and it also is a factor how one handles thier finances. Some people have a hard time learning how to keep a good budget andd following thru with it. And if a person were to be cautious what they spendd thier money on they may be able to atleast get caught up.
I am working on a budget and it seems to help a little as long as the others in my household can keep up with it to. It also will include paying all bills , food transportation and needs but will allow an occassion treat or item.

Because we are spoiled to death as a society; we're used to getting what we want when we want it, and aren't willing to wait until we can pay cash. Kids have unbelievable amounts of stuff these days, so it's going to be really bad when they become adults, or even teens. Do you think that if kids don't have to wait for things (like saving up enough money to buy it) that they will have any self-control? They will all end up pregnant or diseased. If you have small kids, take this into consideration. Kids feel better about themselves, have more pride, and less depression, when they work for things that they own.

It's hard to determine between what you want and what you need. You SHOULD always buy what you need first, but of course no one does that. The best way to deal with it is to make a budget and keep up with your money the best you can. Always keep a rainy-day account, and a savings account, and take a little bit of what you make and set it aside for the things you want later on. For now buy what you need. Life is indeed short and everyone deserves what they want in some way shape or form.. It just may have to be later than sooner, that's all.

We must be able to separate "necessities" and "luxuries".
Those are within ones control to the extent that income can furnish the necessities.
Medical necessities are an issue beyond most budgets.
In business they are called, fixed expenses and discretionary expenditures.
The Great Depression produced wise spenders, and sacrifices.
Unfortunately, taxation is responsible for some imbalance, beyond ones personal control.
Government, State and National, siphon nearly 1/2 of workers income. Most have no awareness of the "hidden and the double taxation" that is collected.
Statistics show that one works until July to pay all taxes. It wasn't too long ago, one worked until April. I have no doubt that this will continue to increase, for many years to come.

Living on a champagne taste while having a beer budget is the proplem. If you were to take a little bit money of money every week and put it in a savings account and don't touch it for anything than after time you will no longer be livning paycheck to paycheck.

Maybe they don't have a budget or can't stick to one if they do have one because they have poor impulse control .
Pay your bills first. Fill up your gas tank, stock up the fridge and pantry. Anything left over save at least half and spend the the other half to reward yourself for being good.
If you stick to your budget you start having a positve cash flow - you can save for emergencies or a treat for yourself.

Inability to delay gratification. Most of the time. I once had horrendous medical bills that were beyond my control and it took several years to pay them all off.
When you do make the two ends make what happens is called freedom. You can spend and invest your money in ways of your choosing and ways that support your values, as opposed to merely paying bills and living from paycheck to paycheck.

This all stems back from the government interfering with child rearing... when the government took the parental control .. we ended up with undisciplined children.. these children have now grown and have no self control... this branches out into all aspects of life from keeping ones sexual urges inside the marriage to controlling ones spending urges...
Get back to taking the kid out to the woodshed and you'll see things start getting back under control
