what do you like or dislike about Jehovah's witnesses?

I like: there honesty

I dislike : That they judge people

I like : there dedication

I dislike : that they think you are lesser if you are not one of them

I like: the hard work they put into there beliefs

I dislike: if you are one, and decide this is not the religion for you they shun you. Do we not have fredom of religion?

I dislike: my son who is 16 now cannot have anything to do with me for the last 6 years cause I'm not one....2 more years he'll be 18!

I dislike : they really think I would want to live in paradise with "a" God that would have my child disown me because of my religious beliefs..come on I'd rather die forever.

Update:

I have sat through meetings for 21 years and they do, do , do judge and yes I am disfellowshiped. For my sons protection? I am state certified to care for children, but my son can't talk to me. You potray God as mean. He is not!!! Jesus befriended a prostitute, but I can't talk to my son. I think bad association does spoil useful habits, but this is my flesh and blood and the only thing different between us is religion oh and his dad that is mad I divorced him. He says lies and stuff, my son confided in some one so that's how I know. Is this Jehovah? An elder who lies!?!

Update 2:

let me correct myself...not disfellowshipped I wrote a letter to disasociate myself because I didn't want to be that religion anymore. Don't I have the right to choose?

Update 3:

The whole story...I will not be part of a religion that thinks there **** don't stink

There are alot of nice people but their faith is based on a false prophet and a system that has supplanted the word of God for a lie. Plain and simple, they are a cult.

I would suggest learning as much as you can about their doctrine just so that you can have a legitimate conversation with your son that isn't condecending.

  • I was a Witness for 5 years. My belief is that they are true

evangelizers. In that they go door to door like The Book says.

Not everyone is interested in, or watches revival on TV.

They may in fact have an aspect to thier teachings that is beneficial. In that people don't have to think about the fearful aspects of spiritual things. Just ignore them.

As for them thinking thier religion is the only true religion, and everybody else is squat! Isn't that the way of all religions?

I dislike the entire family (with 6 kids) standing at my door at 7 am asking if i would like to arrange a meeting. On a lighter side my husband did some work for them so they were all over us and kept coming to our door ( iwas so mad at my husband) he used to make me lie and say he wasnt there.SO I decided when my husband wasnt around to arrange a big long meeting while I was at work.lol I called and sure enough they were all there preaching to my husband. He didnt speak to me for a few days. However on that note I believe every living soul has the right to follow any belief they choose.

The things people "dislike" are truly pathetic. In some cases, due to their personal ignorance of the Jehovah's Witness faith, and in others due to their own admitted ignorance of the Bible.

For example, look at the asker's dislikes:

    (1) That they judge people.

The reality: They do not judge people. Jehovah's Witnesses recognize scripturally that they are not to judge others, that responsibility belongs only to God, who in turn has assigned it to Christ Jesus.

    (2) That they think you are lesser if you are not one of them.

The reality: Nothing could be further from the truth. If they (or we) thought that, then we wouldn't be volunteering our time and energy in going to people (who are Jehovah's Witnesses to begin with) in order to share with them the wonderful hope from the Bible.

    (3) If you are one, and decide this is not the religion for you they shun you.

The reality: Again, the asker reflects an utter ignorance of the Jehovah's Witness faith. If someone becomes weak in faith and falls away from meetings or field service, we do all we can to encourage them to return to Jehovah. If such a person decides to go and engage in a life contrary to Bible morality and principles, they are cast out of the congregation to keep the rest of us clean. We do not "shun" people who simply stop coming to the meetings.

    (4) My son who is 16 now cannot have anything to do with me for the last 6 years cause I'm not one.

The reality: It doesn't sound like she's giving the entire story. If she committed a gross sin against God, then she would be removed from the congregation. Such an action (including having the rest of the congregation, family or not, to have nothing to do with them) is ONLY taken if the person who committed the sin is unrepentant. What does his being 16 or turning 18 have to do with anything? Who knows.

    (5) They really think I would want to live in paradise with "a" God that would have my child disown me because of my religious beliefs.

The reality: Since apparently she's chosen to reject God's laws and principles in favor of her own "religious beliefs" and her son has not made such a rejection, she feels he's in the wrong. She'd rather them both be dead for disloyalty to God than just her on her own. The reality is that the son, so far, is making a stand for God's laws and principles and as such, he properly displays loyalty to God over loyalty to his mother. Good for him!

Will not answer, because My Bro. Wink has summed the whole thing up quite well. Bro. Bill

No more for the desires of men, but for God’s will. For the time that has passed by is sufficient for US to have worked out the will of the nations when WE proceeded in deeds of loose conduct, lusts, excesses with wine, revelries, drinking matches, and illegal idolatries. Because WE do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of US. But these people will render an account to the one ready to judge those living and those dead

Witnesses are taught to honor their Mother And Father No matter Their Faith

(Matthew 15:4) 4 For example, God said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Let him that reviles father or mother end up in death.’

At 16 if your son doesn’t talk to you, it's his decision, and you are having a hard time dealing with it. So you look for a reason other than yourself, why don’t you ask your son point blank, why do you

Not come around, talk or what ever with your father?

I asure you, jehovah's wittnesses don't look down or judge anyone. tehy leave that to god. our only goal is to help people learn the truth about the bible, we love everyone, even those that hate us, and let god do the judgeing.

why your son is acting like that im not sure. where you disfellowshiped or something? because if you were, its for your sons own protection that he dosnt tlak to you, god made sure that those who have been sepearted from the congregation for being unrepentant for gross sins arn't suposed to talk to thosei n the congrigation. no one wants to be mislead by a sinner (no offense) but if thats not the case, im not sure why hes acting like that, like i said. try to talk to him and figure out wahts going on.

I dislike any religion that tells people if you don't believe what I tell you to believe and pray what I tell you to pray than you won't go to heaven. That is just LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is with this blood transfusion nonsense? This is nothing but a cult and you should have your son de-programed.
