How do I choose the best answer to the questions I post?
I posted a question a few days ago and the voters got to choose the best answer. I have been monitoring the question I had posted daily and now it said the best answer was selected by the voters. Don't I get to choose the best answer? How do I do that? I am new to this as you can probably tell. Thanks for the help.

I think you can set it up that way under your Q & A, but I get e-mails asking me to choose about 48 hours after posting.
As for the guy who called you a freik, he's weird....just ignor and he goes away.
Welcome!

The earliest you can select a "best answer" is 4 hours after posting. The latest is 4 days (unless you opt to extend the expiration which will give you another 4 days for a total of 8 days). Once that time elapses, it goes into voting. It remains there for 2 days (unless there is a tiebreaker in which case it will stay there until someone breaks the tie).
To choose a best answer for your question, find the question (e.g. go to "my Q&A" and find your q's) and then make a selection. If it has already gone to voting, you still have the option to vote. But, your vote counts just the same as everybody elses.
Also, I'm attaching a link to the FAQ's which may answer some other q's that you may have. I'm also sending a link to the blog on 7/17 when they adapted the timing (I'm not sure if they updated that in the FAQ's yet).

Once your question has been posted for at least 24 hours, you can:
Choose the best answer (must have at least one answer):
Click the Choose as Best Answer button next to your chosen answer. Once a best answer has been chosen, your question is considered "resolved".
Let the Answers community choose the best answer (must have at least two answers):
Click on Put to a Vote in the top-right module.
If you're not satisfied with any of the answers, you can also extend your question's expiration date and wait for more answers. To do this, simply click on your question and click on the Extend Expiration link.
If you don't take any actions, the question automatically goes to a vote after 7 days.

You're supposed to be able to decide yourself unless the question expires. It's then put to a vote. It may just be a glitch (Answers is relatively new), or you may have accidentally clicked to have it decided by voters. I think you can choose best answer as early as 4 hours after you post the question now.

A question 'expires' in two days. So you got to 'resolve' in that time, ok If you want you can 'extend expiration' of that question. Then it will be 'open' for 7 days.
But as soon as someone posts an answer, you can see 'Choose as Best Answer' below that answer in a blue bar. You can 'choose' or 'resolve' any of your questions after 4 hours of posting it. Got it.
And yes lastly, welcome to Yahoo! Answers.
Bye, Take care.

the next time you post a question wait at least 24 hours then you go to your "Q&A" page. You do this by clicking on the button that says "MY Q&A" then click on your question. That will give you all the answers that were posted for that question then just click on the answer you thought was best

Wait 4 hours after the question has been posted then go back to it and scroll down the anwsers and it should say "choose for best anwser" and then click it

yahoo likes you to wait a little bit. then you just click by the little boxy thing by the one you select. the voters get to decide as well.

the guy asking the question is in all likelihood approximately 12 years previous. that's one among the main ignorant maximum suitable answer replies I even have seen in this communicate board. she or he merits to be stated.
