They're no harder to set up (just hire someone to do it or get a friend to help if you need to) and the viewing experience is significantly better. If you plan on getting a new TV you should make sure it is set up for high definition as not only will there be more and more HD channels the new HD-DVD's are starting to come out.
By the way, Mary's comment makes no sense whatsoever.
