There's no basis at all for astrology.

There's never been a study to indicate that a person's birthday has any correlation whatsoever with personality traits, ability in certain fields, likelihood of certain events occurring, etc.

Neither is there any theory about why a person's birthday might impact such things. As Carl Sagan pointed out if the theory is that the gravity of Venus or whatever is supposed to influence you somehow then you should know that there is more gravitational attraction from the doctor in the delivery room than there is from a planet millions of miles away.

Horoscopes are mostly of these types:

+ advice, like "today is a good day to pay an old debt", which will often sound like good advice but note the advice supposedly intended for the 11 signs that you are not are equally good. Any day is a good day to "forgive someone" or "help someone" or "ask for a second opinion" or whatever.

+ predictive, like "you will soon encounter someone from whom you have been separated", which is deliberately ambiguous (e.g. "soon" could mean today or 3 weeks from now, and there's no mention of how long you have been separated from the person in question) so if you are wanting to believe the prediction you can but you could just as easily do the same with the 11 predictions that are not for your sign.

p.s. I had to laugh at the answerer who said astrology isn't real because the scriptures say so. If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. That's like arguing that alchemy won't work because the giant penguin who controls the universe says so.

No, there is no truth at all to astrology. In fact modern astrology is disproven with one simple fact: when astrology began all the zodiac symbols matched up with the astrological times when the sun was in the respective constellation, however, they have never been updated to deal with the natural variations and cycles of the sky so today we are actually about one zodiac sign off from our true sign.

How could this ever have any real significance if we don't even have our correct signs?

No, it is taught against in the scriptures - however, having taking various college theology and religion classes, it is interesting how the planetary and star alignments have been able to last with certain elements of truth that define character traits. However, if given a choice to follow the creation and what it tells, or the creator, I'll stick with the creator! I have people tell me alot of times what sign they think I am - it's a little confusing for them because I was born premature and on the cusp - and I was due on the cusp - so sometimes, if it's someone who really knows their Astrology they'll get my actual sign and traits, someone just playing around will almost always choose my intended due date.

Oh yes, I always ask every new friends about their signs and start describing their natures. Some kind of instinct urges me to ask them and know more about them. Some finds it very interesting though.

They're entertaining to read but I don't find myself living by it. Some of them are good but others are even crazier than the whole concept.
