Which is better? Bleaching hair at home or at a salon?
Does it really cause that much more damage to your hair if you use blonde kits out of a box? Any tips to save my hair the damage if I end up doing it at home?
And around how much does it cost to get your hair blonde at a salon? My hair is a light to medium brown right now if that matters.
Thanks!

I don't notice any difference in damage between coloring my hair myself or having it done in a salon. My hair costs about $100 for highlights in a salon and about $10 max if I do a full color at home.
Your hair shouldn't be damaged much from the coloring and some extra moisturizing conditioner will go a long way. Don't forget to use one of the "color locking" shampoo/conditioners - they really do make a difference.

Go to the salon. I Bleached my brothers hair and it turned really fast. While rinsing his hair it started to break off. Guess you could do it yourself but you need to know when to rinse it out before it starts to burn out your hair.

Any time you are dealing with chemicals you should go to a professional , but especially with bleach. YOU could ruin your hair.
I suggest you go get a consultation with a stylist if you don't already have one. You have to feel the trust that she knows what she is doing. Depending on how blonde you want to go and if you are open to a full weave ... I love two color weaves. If you go a solid blonde you have to be willing to maintain it every 4-6 weeks cause the line of demarcation is horrible and you can go longer with a weave. Generally, an all over weave will cost you between 150 and 250 depending on who you go with. You are probably going to spend about the same by maintaining the solid blonde by going more.

IT'S USUALLY BETTER TO HAVE IT DONE BY A PRO BUT THEY MAKE MISTAKES TOO AND BEAUTY PARLORS CHARGE ANYWHERE FROM 40 TO 75 DOLLARS,
TO AVOID A LOT OF DAMAGE HAVE HAIR TRIMMER (1/2 INCH) ABOUT EVERY 8 WEEKS AND DEEP CONDITION IT.
IF THE ROOTS ARE GETTING REALLY DARK, LET IT BE FOR AWHILE. EVEN MOVIE STARS WALK AROUND WITH DARK ROOTS...
