How do I get started doing embroidery?
I'd like to hand-embroider a large pure silk cloth for an upcoming wedding. I've never embroidered before, but I'm pretty good at picking up new crafty skills.
Are there any good websites that can get me started? I'm particularly looking for information about how to mark patterns onto the fabric, different types of stitching, and where I can get patterns.
Thanks!

You are much better off going to a local craft store (like hobby lobby, Joanns, or Michaels) and speaking to somebody there. Their crafters are really knowledgable and can actualyl SHOW you the stuff you need. Plus you can take classes there if need be!

Someone told you of 2 places to go for help.A.C.Moores is anotherplace. You say you are quick to pick up crafts, then you should look at the selection of instruction pamphlets they sell. These will tell you everything you need to know(ie. Types of stiches, amount of threads needed etc.)
