well there are positves and negatives. the players would be more fresh becuase of more breaks. so this could lead to more action and excitment in the final minutes. the problems are that a main part of football is the endurance, and this would make endurance less of a factor. It is a fun idea, maybe in college or the mls, but not in the premiership or international competiton.

That's an interesting concept. I suppose we wouldn't know if it was beneficial unless it was trialled. One would think though that players may be a little fresher should the match go into overtime and perhaps we would see less games decided on penalty kicks. One extra break isn't going to extend the game too long. But as Lola has pointed out, what if teams are on a roll, would it be impeded? Good Question. I'd be happy to see it trialled to gather the opinions of players.

well you can't have 3 halves, but i definitely like your idea. 45 mins strait is fun to watch, but with a little break, the players can give us a much better show! I'm for it.

I believe football was meant to be played in 2 periods, but with players being more energized, the game would be higher scoring, more aggressive. I don't know, submit your idea to FIFA, see what they think.

Yep...half does mean 2. Two halves equal one whole. I say it's fine the way it is.

No, I like two halves of 45 minutes. And if you had three, it would be thirds, not halves.

I don't know the matches would be longer. because of the breaks but yeah i would like it except it would be 3 thirds.

i dont like that idea....mainly because if a team is on a role, you dont want to have to stop it just because its "half-time". though it would give the players some extra time to rest, i still think we shouldnt mess with a good thing.

    interesting question though!

The idea of half means two.
