Yes, it is. I have a character named Wolfgang Nitschke on the Teen Grid of Second Life.

In second life, you interact with thousands upon thousands of real people from all over the world in a detailed 3D graphic environment. You take the form of an avatar - a very customizable virtual body, there are thousands of variations for skin color and body part sizes. If you're a fashion freak, then you'd be very happy to know that there is a ton of clothes to choose from in Second Life. You can also create your own clothes, too.

Second Life differs from other 3D Chat MMO's such as ActiveWorlds in that it has it's own in-game currency. There is an economy of its own in the game itself.

With that being said, there are many things you can buy... even virtual land!

If you're an architect at heart, then Second Life may also be for you. You use objects called "prims" (primitives), which are shapes - moldable and sizable - to create anything your heart desires.

Second Life uses the Havok physics engine, so if you're a good programmer, and learn the Second Life coding structure, you can create your own vehicles, planes, guns, etc.

This is just a few of the many things you CAN do on Second Life.
