Who will save the Palestinians?
It seems the world forgets about Palestine every time a bigger story comes along. It is also apparent that it's Arab neighbors are either afraid (except Hezbollah) or they just don't give a damn about the Palestinian's living conditions.
If Palestine is a made up term, then what is Israel????

That is up to the Palestinian people and their government. Israel has been trying to take the high ground, but the Palestinians cant get past that Israel is allowed to exist. Until their mentality changes neither will their living conditions.

Palestinian is a made a up term. You are talking about Arabs who live in the Palestine. Britain set up Jordan as an Arab state and Israel as a Jewish one (albeit reluctantly) after WWII and the Arabs living in the Palestine had a state, but they wanted Israel, as well. When Israel moved into Israel there wasn't a lot there. What prosperity is there was carved out by the Israeli people. Many of the Arabs/Palestinians (might as well give in to modern terminology) have benefited. Those who have not are those who have been raised on hatred, and who want, but will not work for it, but would rather take it by force.

The Palestinians have been political tools of the Arab world since 1948. Very sad. Their population has increased substantially, with no room to live and no employment opportunities.
Even their own politicians have failed them: out of corruption, spite, venality, religious dogma and all the rest.
Meanwhile Christian Palestinians have abandoned the territories and made new lives for themselves, integrating and assimilating in the West.
It is sad to see Palestinians out of work and dependent upon international handouts. (It was equally sad, as an economist, to see them dependent upon Israel, and being taken advantage of by an Israeli cartel; but absent some kind of arrangement with Egypt and Jordan -- and given the established "vested interests" by certain Israali economic operators -- I see no alternative.
Until and unless: (1) the Palestinians through education and economic sense improve their own lot, subject to (2) having a viable geographic entity, not just a bunch of enclaves locked down by Israeli guardposts.
But (2) won't happen until both Palestine and Israel are secure from terrorism, death and destruction.
Re your addendum: the business of "Palestine" and "Palestinian" being a made-up term is political claptrap. Natioinalism is based on myths anyway. The Ottoman Empire collapsed after defeat in World War I. People could call themselves what they liked, and Britain had the mandate over . . . Palestine.
If people prefer to call them Canaanites, that's fine too.

Britain made the mess in Palestine by leaving it to Israel, a bit like we messed up Pakistan and India with Kashmir. We probably won't, but we should, help the Palestinians. I hate being British, though I guess it does beat being American at the moment :P

yea first of all israel is a country because they have their own government and palestine is a region. Second, Israel and otehr countries are constnatly donating money to the Palestinians but it ends up in the hands of the UN or the Hamas, but they do get some of it eventually. Everyone's trying but it would be much simpler if most of them didn't want to take over Israel.

Their selfish, self-serving Arab brethren who lost their land in failed attempts to destroy Israel. I'm sure the Egyptians,Jordanians, or Saudis would be so kind - but then again, who would they then have to fuel their Anti-Jewish world view.
But then again, who would want to support a group who has proven time and again, that they can't run a government and can't create a sense of unity. They are too busy trying to destroy Israel, rather then take care of the things to build a sustainable future.

Palestinian's living conditions? Have you had a look at Africa lately, where drought/war/famine has been killing by the millions?
Seriously, give me a break.
