Are women the cause of all evil in Christianity?

I find intriguing that many christian women tell me that women are oppressed in other faiths and Christianity liberated them however someone told me that women in this faith must wear a scarf (not because they are pious but because they belong to their father, brother, husband, son, etc) or have their hair shaved off what's the ... ? I was obviously confused and wondered whether this answer went down to the fact that women are blamed for the fall of man etc??

Update:

Carol you made me laugh, muslim women had more rights and still do in Islamic law then a traditional Christian women does.

Yngona had me intrigued, surely if you amend a faith then the faith is longer what the faith was so you worship an amended Christianity not really a Christian then are you??

And I wasn't talking about long hair I was saying that are women meant to shave it off if they do not wear a scarf as I was informed that a scarf had to be worn to symbolise that they belonged to someone, father, husband, etc.

nelli I disagree there are many tribal faiths who see every female as a mother and so their societies are based on making sure the women are comfortable, safe and happy. these women hold high places in the tribal structure.

Sexual gratification? hmm okay not what I asked but thanks for the input.

bill nice answer but I didn't ask about the angels but thanks for giving me something to think about!

Women are not to blame. Rebellion is to blame. Satan rebelled against God. Mankind rebells against God. Rebellion in the hearts of men (which by the way includes both Male and Female) is to blame for all the evil in the world.

Faith in God and trust in His Son Jesus Christ are the answer. He will give us peace and joy.

In early Christian thought, not during the time of Jesus, but a few hundred years after his death, yes, women were considered the [cause] of original sin. Today, this idea has changed; but not surprisingly. Christianity, like many other world religions, regularly updates or amends its doctrine to accomidate or remain contemporary with current thinking. Mostly, women are no longer seen as the cause of evil; the tale of Adam and Eve is understood today more as myth than fact.

Nope........... christianity never blame women or any humen beings but Satan in the cause of all evil

women are respected but each individual has a position in the home and society for the hormonious living and to full fill the porpose of God

the long hair is given to women to differentiate them from man and to thier beauty but to cover it infront of others also go is a act of rendering respect as lifting the hat of men when visiting the people in some countries

therre is nothing you need to confuse and worry about it

You could say that within the whole body of Christians and excluding those outside, that only Christians are the cause of evil among Christians. That is because everyone is born evil and are in various states of reformation and regeneration if they even make it past the first state or "day." I have also said that the church is always an earthly affair. Christians of the church are far from being perfected as angels and some don't make it. Even the lowest angel is above anyone on this earth.

That is my Zen like statement of the day!

The Bible says that Eve was deceived, but Adam willfully sinned. ( I'd say Adam was to blame).

The shave heads etc., had to do with women taken prisoners and then taken as a wife for a man. This had to do with mourning for her family. This doesn't apply in Christianity as far as I know.

There are some traditions about women covering their heads not wearing jewelry.

Well if you look at stories from the Bible even in the beginning Eve ate the "apple" first and "convinced" Adam to eat with her. A woman was the first to tempt Jesus even. There are stories in the Bible were women are the "demise" however I pose another question, WHO wrote the Bible? WHO continues to edit the Bible? And lastly WHO rules this world? Men.

Gee I wonder why they would see it any different thousands of years later? Yeah its all our fault. Men are perfect.

Please dont get me wrong there are good stories in the Bible of women too.

So all these things that happened and all the "laws" for women have been written down by a man. What else can you expect.

Someone has given you bad information. I've been a Christian woman all of my life and I can guarantee you that no man will tell me to wear a scarf because I belong to them and still retain his family jewels lol.

No hon, women are not the cause of evil and are not blamed for the fall of man. Women are the partners to men, equal but different from man.

Christianity glorifies women. Roman Catholicism has an even more special place for women as God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus. A woman brought Christ into the world and Catholics believe that the world was entrusted into her care. She is the intercessor for the world with her Son and the model of purity and grace. She is revered and honored by Catholics, not "worshiped" as asserted by some Protestant faiths. Catholic teaching on sexuality actually protects the dignity of women by not allowing them to be reduced to the mere objects of sexual gratification. Hope that helps.

It's true, women are liberated in Christianity. In other religions men are superior to women. I think that is just stupid. I don't think the women are the fall of men. It's very true that A woman (Eve) is blamed for the fall of man. But that definetly does not mean that all women are responsible and should act or be treated differently.

Yes, in Christianity is believed that women is the cause of all evil (Eve). All religions in the world oppress women. Religions were created by man. All of them. So there is no religion where women would have an important, independent role.
