    General Ambrose Burnside the worst screw up in the civil war was born and raised here in Bristol,RI.

    Nathaniel Herreshoff was a world renowned yacht designer and many of his craft were among the largest and most powerful cup defenders. The family business is still in operation today.

    James deWolf was born in Bristol,RI and served in the revolutionary war in the navy and I'm sorry to say became a slave trader.He also served in the senate as a democratic republican.(?)

    King Philip was a member of the Narragansetts and the name given him by his tribe, Metacom is the name of our main road,Metacom Ave. ( gotta be the reason why traffic is such a pain in the ***, his revenge on the white man....)
