Does anyone else remember Danny "Little Red" Lopez?

If you do, tell me one of your memories of his fights. I never got to see him fight live. However I think that as a boxing fan brought up by a father who was a boxing fan, I remember Little Red Lopez's fights as my favorite ones. It always seemed to me that Little Red Lopez was knocked down more often in the first round than any other fighter I remember. Yet he always seemed to win these fights. In fact, it seemed that the more often he was knocked down in the first round, the more likely it was he would win the fight. How could you not love a "tall" (for a featherweight), lanky, irish looking red-haired boxer who said he was irish, mexican and native american and went by the name of Little Red Lopez. Does anyone know if Danny has an email address or someway to be contacted? I don't want anything other than to tell him how much I enjoyed his fights.

Lopez was an excellent featherweight who may have held on to the title longer if he hadn't ran in into the legendary Salvador Sanchez. The 2 fights with Sanchez were battles as was the fight with Mike Ayala. If you get a chance to see those fights on video you would definitely enjoy them, and would probably bring back some memories.

Also Lopez never ducked any contender to his title. Always gave a chance to the number one contenders!

One other fact "Little Red" defended his title sucessfully nine times.

Little Red Lopez was an outstanding fighter who always gave it all he had. Although he lost, he had two fierce battle with Salvadore Sanchez. His brother Ernie Big Red Lopez was also a very good fighter and highly ranked. I loved watching Danny Little Red Lopez fight because you knew there would be a lot of action!

I do remember that he entered the ring wearing an Indian Chief head piece. He was a great fighter who fought the best of the best and beat many of them.

    A quote from "Little Red"

    Thursday Jun 16, 2005

“I only knew how to fight one way,” said the 5’8” Lopez. “I was very busy and always tried to come forward. I kept myself in good shape, so my stamina was never a problem. I’d just keep punching until I knocked my opponent out.”

I have a videotape of Sanchez vs. Lopez I and it is a classic. I remember him when he fought Chacon and Olivarez. He always gave his all and no one could ask for more from a true warrior like him. Kudos to Danny Little Red Lopez. I never really rooted for him because he fought against Olivares and Sanchez and my Dad was a diehard fan of theirs, but I respected him and his bravery in the ring. We need more fighters like him nowadays.

He had 3 great fights that I remember: Sanchez, Chacon and Olivares.

P.S. To me politics goes any and everywhere.

Whom ever thinks that George Allen is not guilty of a racial slur is a lie or they would say the same thing themselves.
