Can I use my USB digital camera as a web cam?

I have a Canon Powershot A520 with movie and sound capability, and I'm wondering if it will double as an occasional web cam. Thanks in advance.

Update:

It can be used in a movie mode, but the user's manual has no information on using it as a web cam. I'm wondering if anybody else has managed to set their camera up to use as a web cam.

LOOK at the USER's MANUAL of your camera, it says if it is possible...

    Mine is not (another brand)

Your camera has a movie or Web Cam capability, check your operating instruction, as they will tell you the resolution rates and the best memory setting to use, the higher the setting the more battery usage may be limited, but as you are using a USB connection, depending on whether it is a HUB or direct connection, your power is coming from the computers USB plug

All the digital cameras I have had you can use as a web cam as well. I haven't had your model though

depends on the camera and the program you have on your computer.
