Shouldn't the UK finally join the Euro?
It's so annoying: every time I climb off a plane in Heathrow I have to exchange my Euros into those silly old Pounds because the taxi drivers are so chauvinistic and won't take my money.
Compare that with Switzerland: in Zuerich you can even pay the parking meters with Swiss Francs and Euros. That's some business sense.

The UK at some point will join the Euro. Most of our trade is with Europe. But, Karl the Webmaster, has got it about right. Not until the relative strengths of the two currencies change. Until then the money markets can make a tidy profit playing sterling off against the US dollar and the Euro.

The Pound Sterling is a strong currency at present and the UK should not join the euro unless there is definite devaluation.

yes, most certainly, then everyone would be well aware of what things cost and could compare, only people getting rich because we won't are the banks which make a charge everytime they convert euros to pounds and vice versa. It would also mean that you wouldn't have to worry about getting money changed before going on hliday to ensure you could pay the taxi driver from the airport, and people who came out here to stay with us wouldn't ask me to change some of their money, which then means I lose out when I change them at my bank to put into my account.

The English are very proud people. They honor their traditions, including their currency.
Also, the relative strength of the pound to the euro works in their favor. If they do ever change, they'll wait until the exchange is as high in their favor as possible.
The odds of that are pretty small right now. England knows that the EU is dominated by French and German politics and economics. I don't think they're ready to subjugate themselves to that pair.

I think all European countries will end up signing up, it just takes time for some of them to understand the benefits and get the population behind them. Nothing is more conservative than voters!
It makes a lot of sense to join. The GBP is pegged to the Euro, so UK does not have the freedom to do their own monetary policy.

Never! Although if Tony Blair knew how much it was upsetting you, he'd be onto it right away. At least we got rid of shillings and 240 pence in the pound. And inches. But not miles per hour or pints. We don't like change. Or Europeans :)

Nobody likes change - but at some point i think its inevitable - with the global economy e.t.c. and poeple like us trading all over the world - it will happen eventually, the Uk is a vey small place to stand on its own

No we shouldn't join the Euro ever, best of british I say, I mean why should we do what Europe tells us to do, we cannot think for ourself's anymore, they have already taken away our old measurement system, please do not take away our heritage as in the pound, Tony Blair has got his prioriteis all wrong, we a british nation should all stick to our guns, and say No to Euro, if in doubt throw it out!

Some places in UK accept Euro - it'll just take us some time to catch up with the rest (as usual)
