Whose Image? Please explain?

God made man in his own image (Gen 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness")

Apologists say that this does not apply to physical image, but to character/attributes/qualities.

Any ideas which properties do we get?

The attributes of God most commonly mentioned are: almighty, eternal, holy, immense, immortal, immutable, incomprehensible, ineffable, infinite, intelligent, invisible, just, loving, merciful, most high, most wise, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, patient, perfect, provident, self-dependent, supreme, true

Update:

and please can you state from the bible where are you taken your conclusions? Imaginarry guesses can be wrong.

    God-like qualities:

the ability to think, to have a free will, to know right from wrong, to love, to feel hurt, to feel anger, to have a soul, to live eternally.

God made us with nearly all the attributes you laid out that are applied to him. The problem is we lost them when sin came into the world, and now there was an attribute that God could not have . Everything changed, we began living in a cursed creation. That was the price of free will, other wise we would be robots with no uniqueness. Of course HE knew it would happen and provided a savior. It ends up being a perfect circle in the end.

I'm not an apologist, but I have often seen whole clutches of children who are the "images" of their parents; all different yet all so similar. And I know people who really are just like their parents, right down to their voices and the way they may laugh or curse.

I rather think that if there was really a God and humans really were the image of Him we would get only the ability to think for ourselves, and from that platform simply aspire to be the other things you itemise.

"Making someone in anothers image" Is just a figure of speech. It is not in the German, Latin, and the other original languages of the Bible.

I have a better question. Why is that sentence using plural words like "us" and "our" when God is talking about himself?

God loves justice ....we have that capacity.

God has love ....we have that capacity too.

God is wise .....we have that capacity as well.

God loves righteousness ....we have that capacity.

    Etc.
