How dumb is this?
In a game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, Derek Jeter hit a foul ball into the stands and accidentally hit a woman in the forehead. Later at the hospital, the owner of the Red Sox, John Henry, visited the woman and gave her a baseball!
I don't know about you but wouldn't the last thing you would want to see is a baseball?

Obviously the woman is a baseball fan, otherwise she wouldn't have been at the game. Every baseball fan I know, or know of, has the hope of catching a souvenir. So the Red Sox owner just replaced the one she caught on her forehead. I personally thing it was a very nice gesture on his part.

If you have ever gone to a major league ball game you will know that part of the excitement is the outside chance you might catch a fly ball.
He was just being nice and gave her what most fan's would love to have. He didn't have to visit her at all. When you sit in that stand you have to know the potential for this happening is there. Only way it would not would be to put all the fans behind a screen and who would want that.

it was stupid, cause Derek Jeter should have been the one visiting.
As for paying the bill, when you buy a ticket, the license indemnifies the team and stadium of any financial responsibility if you get hurt.

Maybe she really, really wanted John Henry to give her a baseball, and that moment was the singular high point of her existance.

Better an autographed baseball than a lawsuit.
Besides, it's good PR.

You never know, that individual could be an avid fan. Also, the value of that ball may change, but who knows.

Perhaps she is a great sports fan! I think he should have brought her flowers, and paid the hopital bill.
