I don't know the whole 20th century, but I can give you the ones that have impacted my life, society in a whole, and if were not murdered could have made tremendous changes in the US.Martin Luther King JR and Malcom X(He was not a racist after he took his pilgrimage to mecca. He was taught the racist teachings by Elija Muhammad and GOD saved him from that. The teachings of The Nation Of Islam is not the same as The Real religion of Islam).I can not think of a third person who is on the scales of these great men. They were true liberators.Freedom fighters. But I guess the third can be Rosa Parks. All trying for the equality of mankind. But if Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X did not get assasinated, they could have been the great leaders of this nation.Of two strong religions, but they taught tolerance.Maybe they were assasinated because they really were on the verge of liberating the general population. From the rich to the poor. From black to white and everything in between. There are many noble men and women, but who really made a dofference.PEACE!

To me, anyone the fights for the liberty of all. For the 20th century, breaking down the Iron Curtain was crucial for freeing Millions of people and reducing the risk of nuclear war between the then super powers. Thus,
Reagan for uncompromising leadership
John Paul II for spiritual leadership
Gorbachav for giving up the USSR
There are many like Mother Teresa who are noble, but, I give the 3 above my vote.
