Yahoo has been having a lot of problems with the new chess and with cheaters. I suggest for free online chess go to http://www.freechess.org/ and open a free account. Once done, you can download a free Windows interface from http://www.babaschess.net/ to give you the ability to play free online and not have to use your browser, eliminating all those browser related problems. No more pop-ups, ads, java problems, etc. Have fun.
