i need information on private loans for college and i have bad credit no cosigner.?

i am trying to find out where i could get a private loan for college. i have already filed the fafsa and i made too much last year to get grants but they did wave my fee's. however i made more this year than last year and i know that will not be the case for 2007/2008. i have filled out my information for the stafford loan program, but my school only participates in the subsidized direct loan program so i can only get an additional $2625.00 before i have to go to private lenders. my real problem is i do not have great credit and there is no possibility whatsoever of me having a cosigner. where i live has an extremely high cost of living and i will have to have a loan to ba able to go to school. i do plan to work part time, my best bet with that is if i find a serving position. all help will be appreciated. thanks

Unfortunately, as you said, you made too much money and are not eligible for grants. Scholarships are a joke unless you can show financial need as well. Private loans are a good place, but bad credit means you will not get a loan because they go by credit. The best thing to do, would be to go to your local community college where tuition/fees are about 1/3 the cost of a university, do your two years and get all your required classes in and then transfer to a university your last two years. You also will want a roommate or two and work work work.

I found a solution that worked for me. It might work for you too.

I had some pretty serious credit problems…some were not my fault and, I guess, a few were. I listened to the so-called “experts” who said they could fix my credit report and I spent money I didn’t have. I didn’t have any luck trying to get my credit report fixed.

I remember paying for the services that these Credit Repair Companies had to offer. The companies told me that they could have negative items removed from my credit reports without any problem, Yeah, right. This did not happen at all. Most of the companies wanted to charge me a set up fee anywhere from $39 to $299 for their services. Not only did they charge this set up fee, most of them also wanted to charge me from $29 to $49 monthly while they “attempted” to repair my credit report. These companies offered no guarantee that their services would actually work and, believe me, they didn’t.

I was about ready to give up when I found a lady who had been through the same thing and who had found a solution. She figured out how get all the negative items removed from her credit report within 3 months without paying anyone a penny. She developed a fast, easy, step-by-step process that she guarantees will work for everyone. She sells the complete plan with all the help and instructions for $47.00.

I know what you are thinking…”another $47 down the drain,” and that’s kind of what I was thinking too. But, I figured that since she offers a 100% money back guarantee I had nothing to lose.

Well, I tried it and it was amazing. I got all of the negative items removed from my credit report and my credit score went from 553 to 715 in only 3 months. All I can say is that it worked great for me. I suggest you check it out. You can always get your money back if it doesn’t work for you. If it works even half as well for you as it did for me you will never even think about asking for a refund.

funny thing is Im in the same boat. Not the bad credit thing though. So, I hear from my brother who is a genuis (going NYU for his masters this fall) that you go to a bank and get a loan. They give college loans without credit check, you pay them back 6 months after your done with your degree. I will let you know how this goes because I will be going to the bank on Wed. to do this.

Source(s): my brother= went to Notre Dam and now NYU for his masters- total of 70k in loans thus far.

Go to http://studentloan.com/ That's Citigroup's student lending service. They're probably the single biggest student loan provider.

If you've made enough last year to not qualify for grants, you'll probably have sufficient credit to have them offer you a loan, but you may not like the interest rate. Still, as student loans are generally not erasible through bankruptcy, lenders have a certain measure of security that they might not otherwise.

why don't you look into independent scholarship and grant programs. i don't know what year you are in but there are many programs that give money out for college. whether it's for women, a particular ethnic group, or professional association, offspring of a union worker, etc. hunt the internet. look into associations associated with your major. they might be giving out money.

also, talk to your school. they might have some programs where you can teach or whatever and receive credits or payment towards tuition or expenses. the school might have private scholorship funds, too.

good luck! let us know how you do.
