With the premium on pitching right now, it is probably a good deal. Even if just one of the 2 prospects become successful at the major league level, it is a bonus. Only time will tell, but any time you can improve your pitching staff, it is a good deal. Good pitchers are very hard to come by these days. Expansion has really watered down the pitching pool.

Trading Moyer for anything is a good trade for the Mariners. Getting anything resembling a major league pitcher is a good idea for the Phils.

Neither team has a chance to do anything this year. If there is a winner it would be the Mariners who got young prospects who could help them in the future. A trade between two teams that are out of contention is pointless. Why bother doing anything this late in the season?

could be as Moyer is getting up there in age and the two youngsters will be around longer. Short term: no... Long term: possibly yes but too hard to tell

Sure. The teams not going anywhere this year, so save a little money and get some stuff that could work for them in the future.

If true, it's kinda interesting. Moyer's kinda past it, but so is the rest of the Phila franchise, so he may fit right in.
