  • Randomly Noisy XBox 360?

From time to time my Xbox 360 will make an annoying whirring/crackling noise. For weeks or months at a time it will run silently; then, suddenly it'll begin to make those loud noises whenever it runs. After a few days or weeks the noise will mysteriously stop and it'll run silently for a few months before the cycle starts over.

It doesn't seem to effect the performance of the console, but it is bloody annoying. Any idea what is going on and how I could fix it?

  • Xbox 360: Start Button Won't Work?

I was playing game when suddenly it stopped to tell me to reconnect my controller. I did so, but now the console won't respond when I press the start button. I tried it with a separate controller and I get the same result, so the problem is with the console, not the controller. I also tried it with several games, and none of them will respond to the start button.

How on earth do I fix this?

  • Explain the current Canadian-Us Dollar exchange rate?

Why has the Canadian dollar fallen against the US dollar when the US has been hit far harder by the recession than Canada has? Both economies have tanked, but shouldn't both currencies drop together at the same rate?

  • Psychology a Useless Major?

I'm trying to decide on a major and I've been thinking about psychology, so I decided to check out what people on yahoo answers had to say about it. I was schocked to discover that many people consider psychology worthless. I've always heard the jokes about philosophy and communications majors, but until yesterday I had never heard anyone say that about psychology before. I had always that psychologists did rather well financially and that they were fairly well respected, so I'm totally surprised to see that people are trashing psychology as a 'weak' field of study and a unuseable degree. I realize that to directly apply the degree you need to go to grad school (although I do know several counsellors who did not and do quite well) but how is that any different than biology? Is psychology really 'useless' or is this just coming from engineering and science snobs who want to feel superior?

  • Useless degrees?

I'm trying to pick a major so I've been poking around yahoo answers looking at what people have to say about different majors. I'm kind of shocked to see that almost every undergrad degree that isn't accounting or engineering or a hard science is considered useless by a large number of people. I've always heard that philosophy and communications are useless, but now I'm seeing that practically any social science or liberal art is considered worthless. Why? Is there any truth to this? I'd rather kill myself than become an accountant, so should I just drop out of school, save myself some money and enter the workforce without a bachelor's degree?

  • Evans or Driver?

Who should I play? Evans has better TD upside, but the weather could be a huge factor in Cleveland. Driver hardly ever scores TDs, but he's a safe play in a dome. I can't decide.

  • Travel Dilemma- Bus or Air?

I'm travelling from Edmonton, AB to Chicago in a few weeks time. Flights have gotten outrageous, and it'll cost me about $750 round trip to get there by air. Alternatively, I could take a Greyhound for about $350, but it would take over 2 days of travel time. Is $400 worth 2 days on a bus? I've never been on a bus for anywhere near that long, does anyone have experience with trips that long?

  • Job Market in Chicago?

I'm thinking of moving to Chicago. I'm a student, so I'm wondering what your average, part-time, entry level job would pay per hour, and how easy/hard it is to find work in the city.

  • Online University- transfering credits?

I'm thinking of starting classes at a Canadian online university. It's fully accredited, and held in fairly good regard. ( http://www.athabascau.ca/ ) In a year or so, I have the oppurtunity to move to the U.S. permanently. The Canadian online school is also accredited in the U.S. by the MSCHE (it's the only Canadian U accredited in the US). I realize admissions are a school by school basis, but in general, do you think I'd be able to transfer the online credits to an American brick and mortar university after I move to the U.S.?

  • Where would you rather live: Canada or U.S.A.?

I've got the choice between the two, and I'm pretty conflicted. I guess I'm looking for educated opinions about the differences between both sides, socially, economically, etc.

I realize this question will probably generate alot of patriotic crap from both sides, so let me just say that I won't find it at all helpful, and if you're intelligent enough, please avoid it.

  • Difference between U.S. and Canada tax rates?

If I earn 30k per year, if you add up federal, state/provincial, social security/insurance, etc. what's the difference in tax % between U.S. and Canada? Just in general is fine, but if you want to get specific, what's difference between Alberta and Illinois tax?
