Job Market in Chicago?

I'm thinking of moving to Chicago. I'm a student, so I'm wondering what your average, part-time, entry level job would pay per hour, and how easy/hard it is to find work in the city.

Part-time jobs in Chicago seem to be flourishing lately. Especially in the city downtown. I grew up in the suburbs and it was extremely hard to find a job there but when I moved to the city, it didn't take long for me to find a job try Craig's List. It's a great site for finding jobs.

Minimum wage just went up to $7.50 per hour. Don't expect to get much more than that. I work downtown at a women's clothing store as a sales associate and I only make $7.75 per hour. I find the pay to be quite disappointing.

Chicago has a pretty strong job market right now. Just depends what you are looking for.
