What's the whole story behind Letterman and the Oscars?

I know I should know the answer to it, and maybe I do. All I've ever heard is that he was just a bad host, but I know there has to be more than just that. What was it that made him a bad host? What happened? And does anyone know where I can get a copy of that year's awards?

He didn't accomplished his job, make people laugh through the broadcast of a long program, he was I guess nervous and not a lot of people laugh with Dave's jokes, he improvised saying Uma, Oprah, Oprah, Uma a few times. Doing the Oscars is a huge honor for whoever is doing it and if they don't do a good job, they are not coming back.

Well, he was bad. Dave was sort of nervous, and his material just was not going over well with the crowd. He sort of fell flat as a host.

Especially next to Billy Crystal (who I dont like that much but he was a good oscar host).

Then, you know Dave, he later started making jokes about how horrible it was and i think there was some light oscar bashing.

You can google up the results.

  • Oprah, Uma.

    Uma, Oprah.

He parodied Jack Nicholson smashing a car with a golf club which I thought was funny. Nicholson didn't think it was funny if I recall correctly.
