Could there ever be female referees in the NFL?

I see female referees in the NBA, but do you ever think there's a chance that there could be one in the NFL? If not, why?

    They could get hurt. Have you seen a ref. get hit before? There are some violent hits on ref. in the NFL sometimes.

    Their was once a Female Backup Kicker in the NFL.

    I did not know that there were any female refs. Sure I guess.

    Yes, but she has to have already developed a beer gut and must be legally blind.
