Wolves generally have a greater height and weight than coyotes. Also there's a difference in the way they howl. Coyotes have a higher pitched howl than those of wolves. Coyotes are also more foxlike and have longer ears. They're also more solitary than wolves. There's also a difference in their coat colors. Coyotes tend to have orange or yellow fur while wolves have gray and white fur.

Coyotes are smaller and slimmer than wolves. Something like a medium sized dog, Smaller than a lab.

A wolf is much larger bulkier and usually has thicker fur than a coyote. As Large or larger than a Lab.

Coyotes are generally much smaller, although urban coyotes may be significantly larger than their rural kin. Coyotes hold their tails at a downward angle, while wolves carry their tails straight out.

A wolf can weigh up to 200 pounds...a Coyote about 25-30 pounds...Wolves eat Coyotes if they ever get a chance.

They are different species. Coyotes are Canis Latrans, and wolves are Canis Lupus.

    Coyote weigh 20 - 50lb and wolves 55 - 145lb.

Their behaviour and diet are different, coyote live in pair bond family groups and wolves in packs. Wolves prefer to hunt and cache food, coyote hunt small prey and will scavenge carrion.

They are just different "canine" species. The definition of species is based on the fact the animals belonging to one species cannot mate and produce viable offspring with one another.

I believe canidae is the taxonomy term for dogs, wolves, coyotes, etc.

They are both canines. That's like asking "what is the difference between a St Bernard and a Beagle". Wolves are just larger. I do think that coyotes are a bit smarter as they live and survive among us humans and are not as apt to attack us. Wolves, on the other hand, are not as "safe", as it were.
