How does a person know if they got a thumbs up or down?

I have rated many questions and answers and wondered if you get an email regarding the thumbs up or down or if you have to look through the questions and answers to see who got what.

Update:

I read the Yahoo instructions all the way through and all I could find out is that at certain levels you can rate and you can give any question or answer a thumbs up or thumbs down. I could not find out anywhere how the person receiving the rating finds out.

Yes, you have to go back to the question and check.

Under the old system, until this month, you only rated best answers thumbs up. then you would get 2 points for receiving a thumbs up and you could see those as they happened in your "Hello" box in the upper left hand corner, that tells you each time you earn points; and in your recent history on you Q&A page. But those were the good ol days. I say it because you have spent half your Y! Answers time under each of the systems, and it changed.

Right now there isn't any way to tell other than going back to each of your questions and answers. However, the ratings for questions and answers (other than best answers) have only been around for a couple of weeks. Are you more interested in seeing individual ratings, or would you like to see something like total thumbs up on your My Q&A page? We're looking for ways to develop the ratings system further, so let us know if you have any suggestions.

If one of my best answers gets a thumbs up, I receive a point. I receive a message where my name usually is on the page saying so if I'm online, or if it happens after I've logged off, when I log back in, I'll be alerted to the fact I've earnt more points.

If someone rates my questions or answers that aren't best answers, then I don't know about it. I only know if I look back at them.

As far as I know, you have to go to your profile and look at your questions and answers in order to see if it got a thumbs up or down. Kind of a pain, but that's what I do.

Just look at your thumb. If it is up, you got thumbs up, if its down, you got thumbs down. Its just as simple as that :D
