Do you use hot water in your ice cube trays?
Why?
I have heard that a lot of people do this. I even do it, but I don't know why. What good is it? I KNOW it can't freeze faster, that is scientifically impossible.
Tell me if you do it, why you do it, and what you have heard from other people about it.
Thanks!
For the record:
Yes, BOILED water that has been cooled to the same temperature as the cold water will freeze faster than regular water in an ice tray, but taking HOT WATER from the tap and putting it directly into the freezer will not freeze faster than cold water.
Some say that the hot water comes out more solid than the cold water; less fog.

Water that was heated (to a boil) and then cooled off again (!) will freeze *slightly* faster than water that was never heated.
This is due to the fact that dissolved gasses were driven out of the water by heating it. In the water that was never heated the dissolved gasses slow the freezing process. Thus using hot water for Ice cubes will cause them to freeze faster

when you fill a tray with tap water, all the dissoved gasses in the water try to escape as the water freezes and you get a cloudy ice cube.
when you boil water, all the dissolved gases in that water are boiled away whch allows a nice crystal clear ice cube to form when the water freezes.
