Why don't they have "cans" of water...?

instead of "bottles" of water? Are the plastic bottles more cost effective? Have they ever tried using cans?

...just a another stupid question my boyfriend and I were discussing the other day...

The only place I have ever seen cans of water is at disaster relief sites--and that was about 20 years ago, so they may not have that any more. I actually believe those cans of water were provided by the local Budweiser bottling plant.

Yeah, I see they still do it:

Personally I don't like any drinks in cans, as I can taste the difference from a bottle. I think another part of the problem might be the smaller size of cans. People like the 20 oz+ bottles of water.

very simple sodas fist starteed in botttle right but then went to bottle, as bottles became more widely used. by the time the driking water craze began the bottled sodas were more popukar so cans got left behind if some one would of came up with driking water earlier they would of been water cans before bottles

Marketing Gurus would veto cans because you are not tempted to buy unless you can see the clean clear water. Much harder to fill a can than a bottle.

Who wants to drink water from a can anyway??? Not me. I would imagine since water has no flavor it would taste like metal.

  • 1 decade ago

maybe a metallic aftertaste. also people like to travel w/ bottle and they can reseal a plastic one unlike the metal.

Yes. They have canned water for emergencies. I've had some before, and it tasted fine to me.

Great question. I would think it's because it would have a metal taste to it whereas pop has acid in it to kill the metal taste.

And why not milk in cans for soda machines?

Goes a lot better with Oreos or Pecan Pie.
