I met Hendrix in 1965 - Which "Ancient Rock Stars" did you meet?
Yea, I know this is "old old school" and not really looking for an answer. However, I'm "sharing": I was in the position to meet alot of rock groups in the '60's in New Orleans at Tulane Stadium (ain't there no-mo). I was too shy (and stupid) to ask for autographs....wish that was a do-over! So...I met Jimmy Hendrix, The Cream, Sly & the Family Stone, The Animals, Moody blues, The Turtles, and a few more that I don't remember. Very cool to be asked to party with these ancients, eh? Thanks for letting me walk through memory lane!

I worked in a band with a fellow that grew up with Duane & Greg Allman in Daytona Beach. When The Allman Brothers appeared in Jacksonville, he got us backstage. Duane had passed away, but strangely, they kept a mic and spotlight on stage for him.
Greg and his drummer, Butch Trucks, stomped up and down the hallway of the hotel like madmen. They were an amazingly tall bunch of musicians. In those days, it was cool to wear platforms, but those guys (Barry, Butch, Greg & Dickie) all looked like walking pine trees.
Dickie Betts invited us into the hotel room with he and his wife, and broke out the champaigne. He let me play his Les Paul, and the action was so great the strings felt like spider-webs. I would have to say, at that time, at least (early seventies), Dickie was one of the nicest and most humble fellows I had ever met.
Oh, yea. They sounded great!

I actually met Harry Chapin (anyone remember Cat's in the Cradle - from early 1970's?).
About a year before he died.
