Feed it some "duck soup". Go to the store and get some of the stage one chicken & gravy baby food(they're small jars). Add some pedialite until it's a soupy consistancy. You can also use water but if the baby is dehydrated the pedialite will help him. To check for dehydration scruff the ferret, if the skin pops right back he's not dehydrated if it stays up he's dehydrated. Microwave the soup until it's just a little bit warm and then if you have a needleless syringe you can put a little bit into his mouth. Do NOT put it straight down his throat as you can asphyxiate him. Instead put a drop or two inside his cheek. Most ferrets will LOVE this stuff and even if they're sick they will eat it. If you don't have a needleless syringe pry his mouth open and put a drop on your finger and put it on his tounge and he'll most likely start licking it off your finger.

Another thing to check would be his gums. If they're pink he doesn't need sugar if they're blueish put a little bit of honey or caro syrup on a qtip or your finger and rub it into his gums. He should perk right up.

Best of luck toy ou and your little one.

Get you some Ferret laxative and start syringe feeding it. Ferret vitamins called Ferrevite or sometihng like that. You must get something down it...just hours without food and water can dehydrate a ferret to the point they will die. Mix up some ferret food with warm water and make a soup, add some ferret laxative and ferret vitamins and mix it up. (or buy some commercial duck soup, that is what its called) wrap the fert in a towel and either with a syringe or a teaspoon, start feeding it drop by drop. Force feed the fert about once an hour about 2 to 4 cc's or 1 to 2 tsp. You gott get fluids down it ASAP! Sounds like it has a blockage and you need to get it to a vet ASAP! but honestly, try the laxative and vitamins with the food...just make it liquid so it will get some fluid down it. Sometimes just the combination of fluid and laxative will force the blockage out, but once you get some fluid down it, you will be amazed at how it perks up...if it is not too far gone. Be sure you don't get the food down the wrong pipe, but until you get the food mixed up, get some water down it. You also might try some chicken boullion while you are waiting for the food to get soft and liquid. Time is very important right now, so get some fluid started and work on the duck soup. Do not feed it sugar water, or fruit of any kind! Insuloma is kind of like diabetes for humans, so don't try sugar water. If you have an emergency vet service, get it to the vet right now. Good luck

    1. Do not give it sugar water like someone said! If it has insulinoma then that could be too much sugar. Try taking a cotton swab and dabbing some Karo syrup or honey on his gums.

    2. Definitely do NOT feed it fruit or vegetables, ferrets are carnivores and it goes right through them.

    3. It could very well have an internal blockage. Give him some ferret lax. Or if you don't have that then mix some molasses and petroleum jelly together.

Make sure you take him to a ferret savvy vet first thing tomorrow morning! Ferrets are very small animals and can waste away quickly.

Lethargic, to some, is a polite word for deceased. My grandfather was said to be lethargic for 3 weeks before someone with more sense than my goofy grandmother checked him out and called the coroner. So check the critter's pulse first, because if he doesn't pass that test, then you can skip the trip to the vet on Monday.

It sounds like it might've eaten something and got an intestinal blockage. I hope it'll be okay. =/ You might want to try to get it to eat some Marshall's Ferret Lax. It might help push the blockage out if that's what it is. See if you can get it to drink some water too; ferrets can dehydrate easily. Let me know how the trip to the vet goes, and if you need anymore info, feel free to e-mail me.

Source(s): I've had six ferrets, still got two of them right now.

Unfortunately there's not much more until yo can get him to the vet, but if you have ferritol viatim liquid, or are able to get to a stor eto get some, try to see if he'll take at least a little, or put it in some water to ensure he has some nutrition.

just how i would handle it, but its up to you, i would try ANY food, cat food, fereret food or some table scraps to see if he has any appetitie whatsover.

really, though you should get him to the vet and if you have the money (its a tough decision) i would call an emergency vet
