If someone tells you that your ideas are "unique" is that a polite way of saying you're weird?

It means that your ideas are definitely different than usual. But it doesn't give any clue whether they are great or weird.

It's a good bet that is EXACTLY what they mean.
If someone else says that, they are probably not using a word in their everyday vocabulary. Using it in the context you describe, it has become a trite, common euphemism for "weird."
If YOU think of your ideas are unique, then that is a good thing; a very good thing. In that case, the word means "original."

Who cares? I'm weird. I'll admit it. It's cool being weird, because you're not like everyone else! Enjoy your unique weirdness!

Not really. I thinka person can be unique and not weird. We are all unique in our own way. It doesn't mean your weird, just different. Different isn't always bad.

Often, yes. But don't let that stop you! Unique is not bad. Oh if only more of us dared to be unique.

weird, unusual or out of the box. most people who lack the ability to come up with ideas like this are most often the ones that shoot them down.

It could be! I've used the word unique to describe people who are "different." :)
