Hey a 71! My father had one and it was the best driving car that Ive ever known.I wish we still had it. You should be able to get a Haynes book(much better than chiltons) or look real close at the intake manifold,Sometimes they have the firing order numbers stamped right on the intake manifold.Good luck and I hope you keep your classic running for many more years.

Yes, the firing order is stamped on the intake manifold on the front left side. It will look similar to this.....18356472 Is this a 350 or a 400? Either way, enjoy. Good luck.

Go to library. Look up Chilton's or Motor Repair manuals. If you find one that early, you'll be lucky. Hint: it will probably be the same as a 1979 catalina with same engine. Another way, easier if it's there, is to look at the sticker under the hood, that sticks on surface of the going across the engine, next to the radiator. It's usually printed on that. Try that first.

Autoparts stores can still give you a firing order

Go to the library and find a "Chilton" book. You may have to look around for it or ask some one, but it will tell you the firing order of the cylinders. It should also have just about everything you want or need to know.

In some cases, the firing order is stamped or cast into the intake manifold, near the front of the engine. Check there first. I'm assuming that it's a V8.

You should be able to get a repair manual for you car, either at the autoparts store or should be available for purchase on line. Might also be able to snag some information from an auto club for your car.
