Is the high divorce rate a major contributor to the poverty in the USA?
If couples learned to work out their differences, would this help in reducing the poverty in our communities?

Yes. Couples divorce to easily now days. It's part of the me (selfish) generation. It is usually the kids that suffer and the single moms trying to raise kids on her own. If divorce is an option, why get married, unless the marriage is permanently broken.

Poverty does not necessary have anything to do with divorce. Poverty has always been and marriages worked back in the day. It's mostly the people involve in marriages and the fact that divorces are so easy to get now days. Back in the day, a divorce could cause you an arm and a leg. Now it's a couple hundred bucks. It all depends on the people involve and besides money or the lack of is not the only reason that marriages break up.

Absolutely, initially, each immediate family's wealth or worth is split, presumable in half. However, the most intense destructive impact of broken families appears in the next generation that is raised without the benefit of both parents. Of course there are many exceptions and opportunities to rise above any disadvantage but the majority are inhibited.

I dont think so. Laziness is one of the major reasons for poverty. Limited resources and education are high on the list as well.
