5/3 ! Alright first of all you have distribute the negative, then you simplify the equation to 3x+5=10, subtract the 5 which leaves you with 3x=5 then last step you divide the 3! hope that helps!

6x+a million=-17+3x a million)Subtract 3x from 6x to get the x on one facet. = 3x+a million=-17 2)Subtract a million from -17 to isolate the x. = 3x=-18 3)Divide -18 through 3 as a fashion to substantiate x. = x=-6 4)Your answer is x = -6 x=-6

x isn't 5 because that would make it
6(5) - (3(5)-5)=10
30- (15-5)=10
30- 10 = 10
20=10 ......False
Change equation to:
6x + (5-3x) =10
5-3x = 10 - 6x
-10 +5 = -6x +3x
-5 = -3x
cancel the negatives
5=3x
5/3 = x
Checking:
6(5/3) - [ 3(5/3)-5 ] = 10
2(5) - [1(5) - 5] = 10
10 - [5-5] =10
10 -0 = 10
10 = 10

Here's the work:
6x-(3x-5)=10
6x-(3x-5)=10
+5=+5
6x-3x=15
3x=15
Now divide
3/3=1 or X
15/3=5
So the answer is...
x=5

6x - (3x - 5) = 10
6x - 1(3x - 5) = 10
Use the distributive property.
Multiply negative 1 by 3x and 5, and you get...
6x - 3x + 5 = 10
Subtract 5 from 10.
6x - 3x = 5
3x = 5
x= 1 and 2/3.

6x-(3x-5)=10
6x-(3x-5+5)=10+5
6x-3x=15
3x=15
divide both sides by 3 to find x.
therefore
x=5

6x - (3x-5) = 10
-(18x - 30x) = 10
-18X + 30x = 10
12x = 10
x = 10/12 or x = 5/6
