I have gone through the statistics of both Mr. Murali and Mr. Warne, which are as follows:
TEST MATCHES.
-----------------------
MURALI WARNE
Matches 108 140
Wickets 657 685
Average 21.96 25.25
Best Bowling 9 / 51 8/71
5 wicket Haul 56 36
10 Wicket Haul 18 10
Runs conceded 14432 17297
ONE DAY INTERNATIONAL:
--------------------------------------
MURALI WARNE
Matches 276 194
Wickets 416 293
Average 23.28 25.73
Best bowling 7 / 30 5 / 33
4 wicket haul 10 12
5 wicket haul 8 1
WhileI have no doubt that Murali is a better bowler as compared to Warne, the above statistics will substantiate my assessment.
Wane is nearing 37 years of age in a couple of days, whereas
Murali has completed 34 years and 135 days of age. Hence
Murali can continue to play for another couple of years and has
the potential to add another 100 or so wickets to his Kitty whereas Warne may be able to add another around 50 wickets to his Kitty.
If controversies regarding his Bowling Action was not interrupted his carreer, Murali should have by now overtaken the wicket tally of Warne.

Warne is a better bowler, as of now Murali is behind warne in terms of test wickets. And, murali has about 80-90 wkts with teams like bangladesh and zimbabwe, where as warne has less than 10 wkts against them. So you should subtract another 70-80 wkts from murali's list. Also remember Murali has a birth defect in his arm due to which he has this special bowling action. So definitely warne is better...

Warne will takea further 100 wickets and Murali will take (Hair permitting) another 150 wickets. Belive Warne is a better bowler.

I don't understand why people always try to compare 2 persons. Obviously, you won't get a good idea from people's answer as you will find equal number of fans for both people. The only gain would be that you will come to know lots of facts and statistics, which, anyway, you can read from www.cricinfo.com or www.wikipedia.org.
Murali and Warne are great bowlers and have different style, though both are leg spinners, of bowling. Both will definitely cross 750 mark in their career. Folks, just enjoy the bowling of both great bowlers and lets just not involve in any sort of arguing over who is the best. Thanks.

its murali because he has the capicity to take wickets faster than warne.murali will definitely cross the 1000 mark & warne will take about 800 wickets at the end of their test careers.

G'day Fars Aswad,
Thank you for your question.
I'm Australian so I will vote for Warnie. In 2000, he was selected by a panel of cricket experts as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Century. Since October 2004, he has held the record for the most wickets taken by any bowler in Test cricket, and in August 2005, he became the first bowler to take 600 Test wickets. He has, however, been plagued by scandals off the field throughout his playing career.
Shane Warne is already hinting at retirement so I will tip him to add 20-30 wickets against England. However, he has said he could play for another 3 years despite the fact that he is 37.
Muttiah Muralitharan is generally recognised as the greatest Sri Lankan player and the greatest off spinner in cricket history. Since his international debut in 1992 he has enjoyed more success than any other spinner except Shane Warne and has become one of the most acclaimed cricketers of the modern age. However, he has been dogged by controversy over the legality of his unorthodox bowling action.
Statistically, there is no doubt that he is one of the most effective bowlers ever to play cricket in both international forms of the game (Test and One-day Internationals), having taken 600 Test wickets and over 400 ODI wickets. Currently his Test average is just 22.02, which compares favourably to other contemporary spin bowlers like Shane Warne (25.25), Anil Kumble (28.75) and Harbhajan Singh (29.86).
In 2002, Wisden named him the greatest bowler of all time. In May 2004, in Zimbabwe, he overtook West Indian Courtney Walsh's record of 519 Test match wickets to become the highest-wicket taker of all time. Warne, an Australian leg-spinner, is his only current rival for that record; indeed he overtook Muralitharan's number of wickets in late 2004. Warne believes that the younger Muralitharan will eventually be the one to finish with the record, saying he believes that Muralitharan will take "1000 wickets" (in truth an unlikely achievement) before he retires.
Murali will turn 35 next year so I'm tipping him to take 150 wickets.
I have attached sources for your reference.
