Because the human race is despicable most of the time.

I live in Florida and more and more land is being taken over by developers. Bears are going into suburbs of Orlando here because there are less woods for them to live in. If an alligator is even seen, you can call and they will come take it away and kill it.

Soon it will be like Soylent Green, if you remember the depressing movie in the 70's.

We kill the animals when they attack us because we have the all the cards. Because we can. We don't want more people hurt, whether its fair or not. Its very sad and depressing.

There is a belief that, once an animal has lost its fear of humans and attacks, it may approach and attack another human in the future. There may be some truth to that in certain species (e.g., tigers), but, with other species, the attack may have been provoked or entirely instinctive (e.g., a bear protecting its young). I think wildlife control authorities should consider the situation carefully, before deciding to hunt down and kill the offending animal. God forbid that they ever kill an animal just to avenge a human death. I'd like to think that doesn't happen, but I might be naive about that.

It is believed that once an animal attacks a human, that they might do it again because most animals don't really want to have contact with humans in the first place.

Maybe so the animal won't kill or harm another human being again? Just try to remember humans are #1 and animals are #2 got it PETA freak? Humans #1 animals #2 OK?

Are we supposed to let that dangerous wild animal run free and attack and probably kill someone else. They have already shown the tendency for violence against humans. Maybe it is a small child the next time.

The one that really pissed me off was in the NY zoo where some kids threw stones and stuff at a Polar Bear forcing him into his shelter, and then went swimming in the bear’s pool. Well, after the bear came back and killed them he was put down.

I don’t get that. They attacked him! What would anyone expect a top predator to do in his own space?

    Thanks, good question.

Because once he has a taste for human blood, he will be prone to do again. Secondly, the animal has violated the order. Beast was made for man, and not man for beast. I wouldn't expect liberals to understand any of this, however. They'd probably want to get the animal an attorney and give it special rights, or claim "unfairness."

I dont know... but when wild humans attack animals (for example, people who put kittens in pillow sacks and throw them against walls... etc...) why arent they hunted down and killed afterward???? Its only fair.....

contrary to previous comments, once animals attack, they do NOT get a "liking to the taste of human blood" - only humans kill things because they like to - animals do it because they need to or feel they have to in order to protect themselves. authorities kill animals who have attacked humans only to make the community feel safer, because many humans do not understand animals, especially wild animals. scientists know better.

well if a black bear finds out that a trash can has food they will destroy every trash can they can find when they are hungry. and well every wild animal can kill you with little or no effort so if they figure out humans are easy prey they they will keep killing humans for food so they are destroyed to protect the public
