Overly aggressive drivers or overly cautious drivers; who causes more accidents?

I know it's easy to say overly aggressive, but think about it. How many times have you said that person is going to cause and accident when someone was doing 35 in a 55, or taking an hour make a turn? For me, I've said that way more times for overly cautious drivers. I've said it about someone zooming past 4 cars doing 95 in a 55 too, but its just not as common. Maybe it depends on where you live.

I'd actually say overly cautious. Most overly cautious drivers think they are better drivers because they don't speed (or speed that much) and are very careful when making turns and whatnot. But, the problem with these types of drivers is that they are too concerned with how they are driving to pay attention to other people. Overly aggressive drivers are bad too because they lack any caution. However, I think you have to be a defensive driver at all times and overly aggresive drivers are probably better at that than overly cautious people. I think one easy way to tell if someone is a good driver is to look and see if they put their turn signal on when leaving drive-ways. If they do that you know they are overly cautious and it is only a matter of time before they cause an accident.

I'm a cautious driver. I'm more worried about someone running into me while I'm trying to make my turn, than I am of running into someone else. I'm not a wimp. I just have a lot of respect for cars. It's not just accidents I'm afraid of, but the wear and tear on my car, when I take hard turns, or try to accelerate as fast as possible from a stop after getting a green light. It's only a matter of luck that people aren't in more serious accidents.

I am going to base my answer on the comparison between male and female drivers. Male drivers are usually categorized as more aggresive drivers and females as more defensive drivers. Males have a higher amount of accident claims and more serious accidents, which would relate to aggresive drivers.

I put a link to insurance.com which has some articles on male vs female drivers.

Alot of the times, it's when these types of drivers meet that accidents occur.

It is the combination that causes accidents. They don't mesh well.
