    1. There are some tricks to make the points add up really fast.

    2. Who knows, some of those guys may have their staff -- butler, cook, nanny, maid -- working on answering questions for them.

    3. I think points may be trading on eBay one of these days.

    4. I will have 10k points by the end of the weekend, at which point I will probably retire. I started July 12, and took 2 weeks off for vacation. As I said, there's a trick to it.

That level of involvment seems impossible, and I often wondered how you could get points like that, or other unlikely things like 90% best answers.

I am only speculating, but it seems like a system for gaming the system would be relatively easy using sock puppets.

What the gamer would do is have several IDs (call them a puppet master and several sock puppets). Two variants are possible:

    1) He/she posts a question as a puppet, answers with the "right" answer as the puppet master and has the sock puppets all vote for it, nettting 10 points a crack.

    2) As above but only two IDs are needed. The posting puppet picks the master's answer every time.

Someone doing this would also have a sack of predefined questions they could copy and paste repeatedly in each of several categories for maximum efficiency (speed). And even pointless questions get points.

Considering how obsessive people can be over winning, it would not surprise me if this has been done on occasion. I suppose Yahoo's people could do some analysis and see if a usage pattern that characterizes puppetry shows up.

They do have a life if you checked their Q&A. They are not all overweight people. They most likely have a lot of points, because they have been answering since Yahoo Answers started. They usually now have 100,000+ points, and they answer in their free time(weekends, during the week at times, etc). So,not to be rude, but yes they do have a life, everyone does. For some,it's for entertainment when they are bored, for others,it's about helping people,& that could affect if you get 10 points for best answers.

Don't make fun, congradulate people that have reached the higher levels, they have worked hard to earn it,and should be treated with respect. Someday, when your on the leaderboard, you would want the same thing, same respect, and everything. Treat others the way you would want to be treated, even if they aren't nice to you. Hope this helps.

    Good Luck & Best Wishes~

what a life indeed! number one on that list had to AVERAGE 514 points per day. I didn't even take into account the fact that they haven't answered a question in 3 weeks... have to be a full time job right?

How much sleep do you think they get at night. Man!!! I bet they all have like carpel tunnel.

Sorry but I would never get that high a score. I have thing in the real world to do.

It's all bragging rights, although Raju has really picked up a head of steam.

That's a lot of questions to answer, agreed? I really don't know how they do it. Is that really due to answering? Or is there a cheat method?

I really don't care if there is or not, just curious.
