Another constitutional amendment to go on the chopping block soon compliments of the bush regime?
20 million dollar contract offered by US command in Baghdad to monitor the tone of news stories about the Iraq war. Is this not another jab by the Fuhrer and company to get rid of one of our FUNDEMENTAL rights . Freedom of the press. No matter what you think of the news networks and newspapers any attempt to change the way they report the news right or wrong puts on the same playing feild with the Chinese, USSR and Nazi Germany.

Here is your link snivlers. I can only think that anybody that is not concerned with this is NOT AMERICAN or some sort of member of the American Communist Party or something. What happens in Iraq does need to be reported honestly in the press even if rumsfeild and cheney dont like it.
Oh by the way another $20 million down the crapper!

Right on! Look at it this way. The Illuminati control the government, and own the media. Is there any possible way of avoiding the new world order fascist police state they intend to impose upon us? I somehow am afraid not.

Actually, that one was legal.
Freedom of the press protects against government censorship, just like freedom of speech.
What the administration did was pay people to say things. The monitoring was just one part of the contract bid. The rest was having reporters and papers publish pro-American articles. That's called advertising, and it's legal. Especially when the people saying things are overseas.
So, while it may not be ethical, it is legal and it's actually a fairly effective way to influence overseas popular opinion.

"Monitor the tone of news stories"
Pleazzzzzzze don't try and equate this with censorship or any type of media control.
It is OK with you if the military forces in Baghdad keep abreast of the Iraqi news media to perhaps get a handle on what news is important to the Iraqi people and maybe get a clue on just what the iraqi people REALLY think about the American forces presence?
You can learn a lot about the mind set of the people by trying to determine from the newscasts what events and news stories are important to them.

If I recall, the US Constitution did not apply to Iraq or did I miss something? Monitoring is not censoring or fabricating or even embellishing. Monitoring is watching the TV or reading a newspaper. They should pay me to do it. I'll get it done for a quarter of the price.

the curent administration doesn't think people-- ourselves or otherwise SHOULD be able to make up their minds for themselves. we are seeing only the beginning of this-- thsi is why a regime change here is important.
