Voting and Answering the only ways to get points?

Pretty much. You can also get points for chosing a best answer for a question you've asked, but you only get three for that, and it cost you five to ask it, so you don't come out ahead. You used to get points for rating the best answers of resolved questions, and having your best answer get a thumbs up, but when they added the action bars, they took away those two ways to get points.

Yep. Points only come your way for votes and answers, with occasional bonuses for being selected as giving the best answer.

Your interest in answers should be what you can learn from it not how many points you get. giving useful answers may help someone and reading other opinions on subjects widens your knowledge of things which in turn provides you with tools on how to live a more productive life. That should be the goal what do the points mean, nothing you get nothing for them but you can get something from checking good answers. There are many really dumb things on here too but that all goes together.

as far as i know. if i knew other ways trust me i would be getting points that way!
