I'm 22 years old - why do I have lines under my eyes?

What can I do to remove them / lessen their appearance? I've been wearing concealer under my eyes since I was fourteen. Could this be the reason?

Update:

So this can't be due to my tugging at my skin while putting under eye concealer?

Pulling the skin is definitely the reason why you have lines/wrinkles under your eyes. I used to sell Mary Kay and they tought me so many things about the face, skin, and how we do things that can damage this. To reduce the lines you've already created, try using wrinkle reducers that you see out there on the market now that are made specially for the eye area. To stop this from coming back or even making it worse, here are a few pointers. When applying makeup, or anything under the eye, blot the makeup on the skin with a sponge or the tip of your ring finger. Your ring finger is actually the lightest finger on your hand because we don't develop the muscles in them well and so they won't pull your skin very hard. If you have to rub under your eye, rub the skin inward toward the nose, not away from the nose. This will keep it form streching away and won't cause wrinkles. Also when washing your face, don't use all the fingers on your hands because this will also tug the skin. Only use the ring and middle fingers of both hands to rub in cicular motions towards the nose, never away! Hope this helps.

It doesmt matter if you've worn concealer since the age of 14, seek professional help from a dermatologists because it may just be genetic and as it happens maybe theres nothing wrong with you so dont result to desperate measures just yet without consulting with a professional

Another reason could be due to how you wash your face. Do you wipe your eyes dry or pat them dry? You're suppose to pat dry. Try to go less on the concealer onder your eyes, unless you really need it. Try maybe switching to an age rewined make-up.

I see you've got alot of good answers here...

It could be due to sun damage. I suggest TimeWise® Firming Eye Cream or TimeWise® Age-Fighting Eye Cream. The first brightens the area around your eyes while reducing lines and moisturizing. The second is focused mainly on minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. Both work wonders! You can order here:

I recommend Anew Retroactive Day Defense SPF15 of Avon. It can also lessen puffiness. Maybe because of lack of sleep and stress.

    some of the reasons are:

    1) Physical: not enough sleep, irregular sleep and eating habits, problem in the kidney or liver, not drinking enough water, exposure to sunlight.

    2) Mental: unhappiness, stress, tension

    3) Inhereted from parents

it could be the reason. i'd stop doing that and see if it changes. also u can put warm tea bags over your eyes to decrease the puffyness. also wear cover up and make up. Good Luck! =]
