How do you simplify this equation?

I need to know how to simplify the equation: 58z/ -.5

I can't figure it out, and the teacher didn't explain this part of the homework to us. Thanks!

58z/ -.5 could be looked at as 58z / .5 and then made negative later and than since .5 is the same as 1/2 as a fraction, you can flip that and then do multiplication

so it would turn into 58z TIMES 2/1, or 2 and then make it negative and that is -116z as your answer

One way would be to multiply the numerator and denominator by 10:

    58z / -0.5

    = 580z / -5

    = -(580/5) z

    = -116z

    So the answer is: -116z.

dividing by a negative changes the original sign

dividing by 1/2 is multiplying by 2

    thus the answer is -116z

    58z divide by negative 0.5?

    its equal to

    (-58/0.5)z

    or (-)116z

    58z/-.5=-(58z/.5)=-(58*z/(1/2))=-(58*2*z)=-116z

I should not be doing your homework, but you divided a whole number by a decimal.
