What the Hell!!???

Replace the fuel filter. I would also check ALL of the fuel lines for kinks or sharp bends that would restrict gas flow, and also the rubber hoses associated with the fuel lines for breaks or holes. Possible that air is leaking into fuel line at these rubber tubes. But that's quite rare. But possible.

But something is keeping your carb from getting the gas it needs. Perhaps you misadjusted the float. They are very sensitive.

If you haven't already done, drain the gas tank (or remove)to clean and flush the entire fuel system and replace all fuel filters. You mentioned that you cleaned the carburetor. Was the carb pump plunger replaced ? Next would be the plug wires and the distributer cap. I use too check mine at night (have the hand brake on and tires blocked) by putting in drive (if A/T) with slight load on the engine and have a helper look under the hood to see if any sparks showed from the plug wires or cap.

First off a Ford should not have a 305, it's a 302. If it is a transplant good luck. Other than that I agree with the guy who says it is in fuel delivery. Check the filter first, then the pump. Good luck.

Air gap for the electronic ingnition pick up inside the distributor. Or the shaft of the distributer has become magnitized causing the pick up problems try the small pocket screwdriver test touch the distributer shaft inside the cap and rotor and see if the screwdriver is attracted to metal around the center of where the pick up coil and distrubutor shaft is. Next thing is to look at the bottom side of the rotor for carbon and rust replace it any way.

Idles perfect eh? No power on acceleration... as you make it to 25 mph starts stalling...

That's classic... TIMING PROBLEM.

Since you idle perfectly, we have to assume the vacuum advance and/or mechanical advance mechanisms are faulty. These mechanisms automatically adjust the ignition timing to respond to vacuum changes in the engine. Vacuum changes are made with your foot pressing open/close of the throttle plate(s). Yes, engine rpm comes into play as well...

The vacuum advance on that engine should be mounted on the side of the distributor while the mechanical advance should be inside the distributor. I would check both but the vacuum advance is your most likely suspect. Fifteen years is rough on thin rubber diaphragms!

Probably cause its been sitting 15 years, why would you have an ltd with a 305, isnt that a GM engine

Did you put the key in the ignition and turn? How about gas in the tank? Make sure that it's gas and not water. Water doesn't work as well.

Check air intake.

Fuel pump/filter is the problem you are having.

rebuild your carb. it has sit too long and the gaskets have dried out
