I 43yrs old I'm thinking of getting a tattoo.?

I think that if this is something you have really thought about, then you should do it. You are old enough for it not to be some crazy fad to fit in with your friends, and you are intelligent enough to know all the risks and consequences of getting one.

Sometimes a tattoo or other change can be empowering for a woman. Especially if she has gone through a big change or hardship.

At 43, you may be worried about your age and getting older, so doing something a little out of character could cheer you up. It could also bring back that young and crazy feeling that so many of us loose site of when jobs, kids, and mortgages take over our lives.

I say that if you've thought this through, then do it. Your friend will understand and still be there for you no matter what you do with your body.

Im thinking if you have decided on what you want to get and have the money.. and you find a clean tattoo shop with good artists then you should go for it! Some people get their first tattoos in their 50s and 60s....

I think tattoos are cool. I want one but my problem is I can't think of any one thing that is so important that I need it tattooed to my body for the rest of my life. My husbands grandmother just passed away and he is thinking of having a picture of her when she was younger tattooed on his back. I really love tattoos with meaning like that. I would rather see someone that is 43 get a tattoo than 15 or 16. I agree with one of the answers above, I think you are old enough to know yourself well enough to get a tattoo. I was 43 when I finally got a tattoo. I had thought about it for about 6 years. I had also taken my daughter and 2 of her friends (seperate occasions) for their first tattoos. So by the time I got mine I knew I really wanted it. And I have never regretted it! Go for it! So what if your friend doesn't want you to. Aren't you getting this for YOU? Maybe once she sees yours, she will want one also.

I really think you should think about it very carefully! If you were supposed to have marks on your body, you might have been born with them. I survived 10 years in the Navy without getting one. Plus, I know plenty of people who got a tat and really wish they hadn't. Be sure to soul search.

Go for it! Tattoo's are an aweome way to symbolise a change, event, or just about anything, midlife crisis or not.

I think if it's something you've wanted to do for a long time then go for it. I did and I love my tattoo and am getting another one soon. Feel free to express yourself in any way that you want to. Besides does your friend have one or does she secretly want one and is too afraid to get one.

If you really want to get it done and you've thought about having it for the rest of your life then, midlife crisis or not, go right ahead and get one...!

Remember one thing, as you get older your muscles relax and your skin wrinkles, and the tattoo is going to be doing the same thing.
