question about overeating?
Im a pretty average weight, I always have been. I could stand to lose 20 more lbs. though. My question is how do I stop from overeating? Sometimes i have the urge to eat all the time that I cant hardly resist. I will eat til I'm satisfied, then eat a little more until I'm full and then I'll eat even more until I'm uncomfortable. I'll do this when I'm not even hungry sometimes. I am happy at home and I exercise but I'm worried this is a problem. Everyday isn't like this but it goes in phases. Like the last five or six days I will just eat alot for no reason just because I want to. Is there help for this?

Start a food journal. Write down what you plan to eat tommorrow and at the end of the day write down what you actually ate. Look at it, study it, and analyze WHY did you eat the extra food, what emotionsl you were feeling, and how 'hungry' on a scale of 1 to 5 you really are. Then write strategies down to avoid overeating the next day. Don't calorie count, just be honest with yourself and get yourself a hobby that you enjoy to fill up extra time.

eat smaller meals more often. this will speed up ur metabolizim and make it so u dont feel uncomfortly full :) if u get an urge for food thats not exactly health food, indulge it. have only some though. if u eat slower, this will help too. it takes 20 miunter for u stomach to register to you brain and relize your full.
heres a good tip! if you have an urge for some candy, go to the store. use the machines where u put 25-50 cents in and get some candy. this gives u enough to satisfy the craving and still not spoil anything

Yes there is help. There are so many different degrees of over eating. You first need to figure out why you are over eating. what's going on at those times? Are you stressed, bored, angry, nervous etc? Then once you figure that out you can try different measures. Maybe you can leave the room and take a walk read a book, do a puzzle. Something that you have to use your hands for. If you are at a party and there is food in front of you then go mingle with someone away from the food. If it's out of site it can be out of mind and temptation will be reduced. You can also drink lots of water. Another idea is to carry mints or your tooth brush. I never want to eat right after I brush my teeth. Gum can also be handy to keep you from putting things in your mouth. Over eating can get dangerous and lead to health problems. But you recognize that you may have a problem and that's great! Try these steps and if you feel that it gets out of control and you can't figure out why then call your hospital or doc to find out where the over eaters anonymous meets. That way you will at least find out that you are not a lone. Because you aren't! Good luck!

I catch myself doing this around the time i ovulate. I will eat the kitchen sink if i think it will taste good. That may be what it is.
You could also try instead of eating 3 big meals, eat 6 small meals. Have breakfast, then a snack, lunch, then a snack, dinner, then a snack. Your body doesn't get the chance to be hungry, so you eat less and get satisfied quicker. Don't eat past 7 pm at night though, that turns right to fat. I've lost about 30lbs this way. Make them healthy though, and try to stay away from breads and starches. GL
