Anyone know anything about Kansas City getting an NHL team (Again)?
I heard a rumor a while ago about Kansas City wanting to get either an NBA or an NHL franchise. I was wondering if there is any truth to it and if there would even be any support for an NHL team there considering they only had the Scouts for two seasons in the seventies and nobody seemed to miss them when the team went to Colorado. Also, would the NHL expand and if so what other city would get a team? Or, would an exisiting team move? if so, wich one?

well the Toronto family that is in the bidding of buying the team will want to move them once the lease is up in 2007 and if they cant keep the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh they will be moving to Kansas City home of the old Scouts.
Kansas City has been the number one spot for the Pens to go to if they don't stay and number 2 is Winnipeg and number 3 is Quebec, so you really never know what will happen till it happens.
the NHL is not expanding, this family that wants to buy the Pens will move them to Kansas if he can if their no arena grant. if i was Bettman he should move 2 teams and bring them back to Canada which people really love there hockey and would support a team, 2 teams come to mind are Winnipeg and Quebec great fan support and great atmosphere, and Bettman took them away and put them in the U.S and the NHL is not making any progress since they left.

Word is that the "new owner" of the Penguins will move them to KC IF Pittsburgh doesn't get a new arena. They have a year or 2 left on the lease. The man also isn't owner just yet so not guarntees there. He has signed a letter of intent of sales BUT as far as I know the NHL hasn't offically approved it or even had it up for vote. Also terms of the sale include that IF Pittsburgh gets the new Arena the Penguins HAVE to stay in Pittsbugh. Not many non-Penguins fans seem to have heard about that clause.

There will not be anymore expansion for quite some time. I could see the Penguins moving somewhere (unfortunitly). I think Canada would get first crack and then maybe Hartford (still Whalers fans there). Lamar Hunt was part of a group to get the Columbus Blue Jackets but he backed out and then got bitter. If he finds a team I could see him trying to move them to Kansas City (same place as his Chiefs).

I can't see the NHL trying to expand, but I can certainly bet on a few teams relocating in the next 10 years. Perhaps K.C. will get a team that way.

I don't think the NHL's expanding just yet. Even if they're going to, I don't think Kansas City is their first choice. There's more rumours about Winnipeg getting a team again.

Not NHL. They could not support minor league hockey.
