we went in the beginning of march for our only time in italy, so i have no comparison. but, for sightseeing it was perfect. the weather was cool, so we didnt get overheated with all the walking and touring. plus, the crowds were smaller since it wasnt main tourist season. and lodging and other things were a bit cheaper since it, once again, wasnt high tourist season.

I went o italy (sorrento) in mid may) the weather was so hot, you will look on the internet and see that around may the temperatures are only in the 20's (celcius) but what u have to remember is the humidity, it is lower than some countries (uk) so therfore this makes it feel much hotter, even if it is just by 5 %

Depends on what you're going for. Italy has 4 seasons. Skiing the Italian alps is great fun but if you want to party you can't beat Sicily in August.

I go generally in November when it is cold. However this year I will be going in July for the Palio - I expect it to be around 80-90 in Tuscany and slightly cooler in the evernings.

If you like winter, between November and February. If you like summer, between June and September.
